Seelen UI: Customize Windows 10 & 11 Like macOS or Linux

Seelen UI is a free and open-source customization tool for Windows 10 and Windows 11 that lets you completely change how your desktop looks. It can replace the default Windows taskbar, add a macOS- or Linux-style top bar, and bring smooth animations and modern UI elements to Windows.

Seelen UI has gained a lot of attention in the Windows customization community and is one of the most popular open-source desktop UI projects on GitHub.

Key Features of Seelen UI

Seelen UI allows you to:

  • Replace the Windows taskbar with a customizable dock

  • Add a top bar similar to macOS or Linux

  • Move the dock to the top, bottom, left, or right

  • Enable auto-hide behavior

  • Use themes, widgets, icon packs, and plugins

  • Add animations to the dock and UI elements

Unlike Windows 11’s taskbar, Seelen UI gives you full control over placement and appearance.

Installation and Requirements

You can install Seelen UI from the Microsoft Store or download it from the official GitHub releases page.

Important things to know before installing:

  • Seelen UI uses Microsoft WebView2

  • Windows 11 already includes WebView2

  • Windows 10 users may need to install it during setup

  • Microsoft Edge must be installed for Seelen UI to work

Performance and System Usage

Seelen UI uses around 400–500 MB of RAM by default. This is fine for systems with 8 GB RAM or more, but not recommended for low-end PCs.

Heavy customization such as animations and multiple plugins can increase CPU usage, sometimes significantly. Light customization works best for smooth performance.

Is Seelen UI Worth Using?

Seelen UI is a great choice if you want:

  • A macOS- or Linux-style desktop on Windows

  • A movable dock or top bar

  • A modern and unique Windows look

To get the best experience, avoid enabling too many animations and plugins at once.

Seelen UI is a powerful Windows customization tool that can make your desktop look modern and unique when used wisely.
