How to Use Your Android Phone as a Microphone for Windows PC (Free AndroidMic Guide)

If your PC microphone is broken or you want better audio quality without buying a new mic, AndroidMic lets you use your Android phone as a microphone for Windows. It’s free, open-source, and works great for gaming, voice chat, and recording.

What is AndroidMic?

AndroidMic is a GitHub project that streams audio from your Android phone to your PC in real time. Your phone acts like a normal microphone, but often with much better sound quality than built-in laptop mics.

Why Use Your Phone as a PC Microphone?

  • Built-in phone microphones are high quality

  • Perfect if your PC mic is broken

  • Great for gaming, Discord, meetings, and recording

  • Free and open-source solution

What You Need

  • Windows PC

  • Android phone

  • AndroidMic (Windows EXE + Android APK)

  • VB-Audio Virtual Cable (free)

How to Set Up AndroidMic on Windows

  1. Download AndroidMic from the GitHub Releases page.

  2. Install the Windows setup file and the APK on your phone.

Use Android Phone Mic for Gaming or Recording

    • Cable Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) as your microphone

  • In games, Discord, or recording apps, choose the same mic

You can test it using free software like Audacity.

AndroidMic is one of the best free ways to use your Android phone as a microphone for Windows. Setup is simple, audio quality is excellent, and it works well for gaming, calls, and recording—without spending any money. If you already have an Android phone, you already have a great microphone.
