Trying Out GPT-5 in ChatGPT – My Experience
Recently, I got to try the new GPT-5 model in ChatGPT — and honestly, it’s impressive. According to OpenAI, GPT-5 is their smartest, fastest, and most useful model yet, with built-in “thinking” to give you the best answers every time.
Here’s the surprising part — I’m on the free plan. Usually, new models are locked behind a subscription, but ChatGPT is allowing free users to try GPT-5 for a limited time. Of course, there’s a limit to how many messages you can send before it switches back to older models, but it’s still a great opportunity.
Turning My Video Script into a Blog Post
To test GPT-5, I used something I do often — turning my YouTube video script into a blog post. The script was from my previous video, How to Use Your Phone as a PC. I simply asked GPT-5 to make it into a readable blog post.
The result? It nailed it.
All my main points from the video were included.
It kept the structure clear and easy to read.
It even included helpful details like download links and setup instructions for SCRCPY and enabling USB debugging.
It explained both methods: using software or directly connecting your phone to a monitor with a USB-C to HDMI adapter.
Compared to other AI tools I’ve tried (like Google’s Gemini), GPT-5 followed my instructions more accurately and didn’t add unrelated content.
Modifying My Blog’s Theme with GPT-5
After that, I decided to push GPT-5 further — could it edit my Blogger XML theme? I asked if it could make my blog posts wider on desktop. GPT-5 said yes and modified the XML file.
I uploaded the updated theme, and it worked! The blog post area became about 40% wider while keeping the design responsive. No errors, no messy code — just a clean update.
How GPT-5 Compares
I’ve used Microsoft Copilot, Gemini, and previous GPT versions. My takeaway:
ChatGPT with GPT-5 is more direct, simpler, and faster.
Gemini sometimes ignores my instructions or adds unnecessary fluff.
Copilot is good, but GPT-5 feels more natural and accurate for my workflow.
Even with limitations on the free plan, GPT-5 makes ChatGPT feel much more powerful.
I’ve also made a video on this topic — you can watch it below.
