Happy April Fool's Day! (The Truth About "Windows 12")

First things first: Happy April Fool's Day! If you’re here from my latest video, I have a confession to make: Microsoft didn't actually release Windows 12 early. It was a prank! I tried my best to convince you, but as many of you probably guessed, Windows 12 isn't officially here yet.

However, even though the "upgrade" was a joke, the look I showed off is 100% real. I used a few incredible tools to customize my Windows 11 and make it look like a next-generation OS. I wanted this to be more than just a prank—I wanted it to be useful for anyone who wants to freshen up their PC.

Here are the tools I used to build the "Windows 12" aesthetic:

1. The Custom Taskbar & Start Menu (Windhawk)

To get that floating, Mac-style dock and the redesigned Start Menu, I used Windhawk. It’s easily the best Windows customizer out there because it modifies existing system elements rather than adding heavy overlays. This means it uses almost no system resources.

  • Taskbar Styler: This is what I used to make the taskbar float and add those cool hover animations.

  • Start Menu Styler: I used this to switch to a "Metro" style grid that looks much cleaner than the default.

2. A Modern File Explorer (Files App)

The standard File Explorer is a bit boring, so I replaced it with the Files app. It has a beautiful minimalist design and supports a Dual Pane view, allowing you to manage two folders side-by-side. It makes moving files around so much easier and looks way more "next-gen."

3. My Custom System Monitor (Kil0bit)

The widget you saw in the corner showing CPU usage and internet speeds is actually an app I built myself using AI! It’s called the Kil0bit System Monitor. It’s lightweight and open-source, giving you all your vital PC stats in a clean floating window.

4. The Wallpaper

A big part of the "vibe" comes from the wallpaper. Download https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1q9jSOKlre2GxYZ5UwwInRtb2gLvqkRfP

Why I made this

I don't usually do prank videos, but I thought it would be fun to chill out and show off what’s possible with Windows customization. You don't always have to be serious—sometimes it's just fun to experiment with your setup!

I hope you found these tools useful even if the "leak" wasn't real. Have fun customizing your PC.
