How to Get the Windows 11 2025 (25H2) Update and ISO File

Microsoft has officially released the Windows 11 2025 (25H2) update. If you’re wondering how to get it, here’s a simple guide.

1. Get It Through Windows Update

The easiest way to install the update is through Windows Update:

• Open Settings > Windows Update.

• Make sure "Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available" is turned on.

• Click Check for updates.

• If the Windows 11 25H2 update is available, you’ll see it listed. Just click Download and install.

This is a small update for those already running Windows 11 24H2. Since 25H2 is built on 24H2, most features are already included — the update mainly unlocks them and changes the version number.

2. Use the Windows 11 ISO File

If you don’t see the update in Windows Update, you can manually download the ISO file from Microsoft’s website:

• Visit the Windows 11 download page.

• Under Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO), select Windows 11 (multi-edition ISO).

• Choose your language, confirm, then download the 64-bit version.

With the ISO, you can:

• Upgrade your PC (not recommended, as it takes longer than Windows Update).

• Do a clean install of Windows 11 25H2.

Keep in mind, the 25H2 ISO is around 7.2 GB, which is larger than the 24H2 ISO (~5.4 GB). This could be because of additional pre-installed apps like Microsoft Copilot 365.

3. Be Patient — It’s a Slow Rollout

The update is rolling out gradually, so not everyone will see it right away. If it’s not available yet on your PC, just wait — it should appear within a few weeks.

Should You Upgrade?

If you’re already on 24H2, the 25H2 update won’t bring many new features. However, upgrading is still recommended since it keeps your PC up to date and ensures you receive the latest security patches.

The Windows 11 25H2 update is more of a version change than a feature-packed release. If you’re on 24H2, the update will be quick and easy through Windows Update. For clean installs, you can grab the ISO, but it’s best to wait for the update to appear automatically.
