Microsoft Updates Windows 11 CPU Requirements Again: 8th, 9th, and 10th Gen Intel CPUs Are Back

Microsoft has once again updated its list of supported processors for Windows 11, and this time, it's good news for users with Intel’s 8th, 9th, and 10th generation CPUs. Previously, these processors were removed from the compatibility list for Windows 11 version 24H2, causing confusion and concerns among users. However, Microsoft has now reinstated them, meaning devices with these CPUs will continue to receive Windows 11 updates.

Confusion Over CPU Support

When Microsoft initially revised the list, users noticed that several older Intel generations had been dropped. This led to speculation that PCs running these processors might become ineligible for future Windows 11 updates. Given that Windows 11 already had strict hardware requirements at launch, many feared that Microsoft was further tightening the rules. However, the latest update reverses this, confirming that Intel’s 8th Gen, 9th Gen, and 10th Gen chips remain officially supported.

What This Means for Users

For users running devices powered by these processors, this update ensures continued access to Windows 11 version 24H2 and future updates. It also clears up the uncertainty caused by the previous changes, reassuring users that they won’t need to upgrade their hardware just yet.
