Windows 11 now allows you to use a webcam with multiple apps simultaneously (FINALLY)

On December 13, 2024, Microsoft released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.2702 (KB5048761) to the Dev Channel, introducing several new features and improvements. And the Multi-app camera is  actually a really useful feature.

A notable addition is the advanced camera options page. Accessible via Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Cameras, users can select a camera and click the edit button to access advanced options. This page offers two configurations:

Multi-app camera: This setting allows multiple applications to access the camera stream simultaneously. Developed with the Hard-of-Hearing community in mind, it enables video streaming to both a sign language interpreter and the end audience concurrently.

Basic camera: This mode provides fundamental camera functionality to aid in debugging, recommended as a last resort when the camera is not functioning correctly.
