New System Requirement in Windows 11 24H2: What You Need to Know
New System Requirement in Windows 11 24H2
The upcoming Windows 11 24H2 update (still in beta testing) brings a new system requirement that has sparked discussions: CPU support for the POPCNT instruction. Before you panic, here's the breakdown:
What is POPCNT?
POPCNT stands for Population Count, a CPU instruction that efficiently counts the number of set bits in a binary number.
It's a common instruction used for various optimizations and security features.
Why is it a new requirement?
While not explicitly stated by Microsoft, POPCNT likely enables efficient execution of core system components in 24H2.
This likely impacts security, performance, and compatibility with new features.
Will your PC run 24H2?
The good news: Most modern CPUs (post-2010) already support POPCNT.
If your PC runs Windows 11 currently, it's highly likely it will run 24H2 too.
Older CPUs, like Intel Core 2 Duos, won't be able to run 24H2 due to missing POPCNT.
I have made a video in this topic so watch the video down below for more information.

Extra thoughts: Even though Windows 11 already have some crazy system requirements we can still bypass them and install it on any system but the new POPCNT might not be easy to bypass.
