The new Canary channel in Windows insider program, The Windows 12 development begins?
Beginning of Windows 12 development
If you are a Windows enthusiast who likes to try out new features and changes before they are released to the public, you might be interested in joining the Windows Insider Program. This program allows you to get early access to preview builds of Windows 11, Microsoft's latest operating system.
There are four channels in Windows insider programs Dev, Beta, Release Preview and Canary Channel, Canary Channel is a new channel which Microsoft recently announced.
Initial build series per channel:
Canary Channel: 25000 series.
Dev Channel: 23000 series.
Beta Channel: 22000 series.
Release Preview: Released versions of Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Dev, Beta and Release preview channels are connected to each other these are the future builds of Windows 11 that we know we are going get, but Canary Channel is different and I'm assuming it is a Windows 12 or maybe some major major update builds for Windows 11. Dev Channel builds are for sure a next major update for Windows 11 for 2024 major update so Canary Channel just can't be a major update for Windows 11. Even in Windows insider programs settings there is no mention of Windows 11 in Canary channel. Check the image below:
I have made a video in this topic so watch the video down below for more detailed information on why I think Canary channel builds are the Windows 12 development builds.

Extra note - If you choose to join the Canary channel, you should be prepared to deal with potential problems. You should also back up your data regularly and use a secondary device that is not critical for your work or personal use. Also keep in mind that once you join the Canary channel, you cannot switch back to a lower-risk channel without performing a clean installation of Windows 11. So make sure you are comfortable with taking this risk before joining.
